Dark Heart
by Birdwell
9/11/01

I was numb all day today. There aren't words to describe the fear chilling my heart. Fear for friends, family, and the future. The horror of today has effectively turned my brain to white noise.

I've seen things like this coming and I hate to see it unfold before my eyes. I wrote this 6 years ago and today this story I wrote as a teen is too real. My mother says it's all prophecy, calm and matter factly. Whatever this is: it's going to utterly change all of our lives.

When I arrived at work this morning a little before 8, my co-workers were talking about a plane that crashed into the World Trade Center. At this point, no one knew what it really was...I thought oh some drunk flying a Sesna...I was shocked and horrified to hear ten minutes later-another plane crashed and it was on purpose. This has been the longest day of my life. No one knew what was happened no one knew if we were safe. It wasn't long before I heard war on everyone's lips. I think that scared me more than the attacks. War.

I cried as I saw the replay on the televisions of the crash and the subsequent collapsing towers. What are we going to do now? I just want to send out my prayers--tread carefully now.

Where were you when our world changed?
