Ridiculous. This article is just plain dumb. And clueless. "Baby-naming experts are troubled by this trend of abandoning Billy, Bobby and Susie for the more esoteric charms of Sailor (Christie Brinkley's daughter) or Salome (ER 's Alex Kingston's daughter)." This article focuses on the misnomers of Celebrity children.

First of all: naming a child is a deeply personal thing a parent does and most of the time it is taken with much thought. So butt out. Second of all: a name should be something used as an identifier. So a unique name is quite appropriate. How many Johns and Michaels were there in your kindergarden class? So many teachers have to re-name them John One and John Two. Third of all: Children are quite cruel and will ridicule any name. I was Krystal Pistol for many weeks in grade school.

Like I said above, this article focuses on celebrities--making it seem a celebrity thing, making it sound cruel and dirty. But many non-famous parents' are giving their children unusual names. I think it's because we want to be unique. We're tired of everyone having the same name and we want to add colour to our lives. We want our children to accept that we are all different and revel in that.

Besides, do you think Denim Braxton is going to tease Take Hopper Penn? With more and more children with unique names enter the world the whole "teasing" fear is goign to vanish. And I don't think Salome Kingston will have to learn to lap dance. Did I have to learn to dance around a pole to live up to my moniker???

And just so youse know I am biased...Ashby Robert and Maichen Wynn are the names of our next children. Michael may be a common name but I made up for that with giving him Francis as a middle name and confusing the hell out of him (and forthcoming his brother and sister) with his last name. Grin

So go ahead call me cruel and petty.
