Bad, bad, bad parents. This is a very interesting article. I've had my own love/hate relationship with my own parents. But blaming them for my short comings (as if I have any...smirk), no. Sure your parents do have a hand in molding a child, but it is the child who decides how to respond. I decided to respond to my parents' percieved faults by growing up and taking the good things they did and use them in my childrearing and the bad...well tossing that completely.

My real fear as a parent is my loss of parental control. The freedom to raise my child in they I believe is the best for them. That means limited media exposure (if that is even possible), a great education, and a good dose of mutual respect.

And if I have unintentially insulted my parents, this is a peace offering. My parents did a great job. The reason I am open minded, intelligent, and self-aware is because of my parents...all my best points. Sure good parents sometimes do a bad job occasionally...it's because they're human and babies come with no manual or warranty.

And if I insulted children with truly bad parents (a minority I assure you), you don't have to be chained to your past.
