Busting your arse

Which is something poor J is doing. He spent a whole 14 hours at work (which doesn't count the one hour commute there and back). My mom asked the other week, "Will he always have to work this hard?" Or something to that effect.

With J's fabulous work ethic...I see it coming up as needed. But he did get a fresh new deli to manage (which is under staffed) so the hours must be worked and he is a good manager that won't let his employees bear the brunt of the under staffing issues.

Some day I hope he'll work his way up the ladder and be able to at least sit for most of the day.

What is really sad is that J's work ethic seems to be rare in not only his company but in the work place in general. Basic stuff like punctuality and honesty seem to be lost on some people. Not to mention coming in on your day off, staying late, performing the job above and beyond expectations. On the other hand I can understand office politics forcing people to just keep their head down...e.g. my mom...she was forced out because she was scaring her boss (My mom has a good work ethic and she made her boss look bad). SIGH.

Come on people...sigh with me.
