It Was a Lovely Day for a Wedding

One of my good friends got married yesterday. It was a gorgeous Catholic ceremony--uber spiritual. I always find it weird to witness Catholic sacraments. Just because it's so different from the way I grew up. When we sang hymns I kept looking for a Chorister to lead us in singing. I think we miss one hymn because no one knew we were suppose to start singing. Of course I don't know if this is usual or not--perhpas they just couldn't getone. Funny since I know how to lead music--every girl in in my church at oen point or another learns how. I also found it weird where the Monseiger sat, on a throne. I am just not used to that.

Note: weird in this context does NOT mean bad--just different.

Micci was the ring bearer. He did an awesome job. L. had the flower girl and the ring bearer walk together--to hjelp with nerves and such. E. was a deliciouly sweet flower girl. She helped Micci practise walking up the aisle. In fact I think she made him practise for 15 minutes. Funniest part about the reheasing was Mic had ot learn how ot bow properly. E. would of course courtsey. SO Micci would try to bow AND curtsey at the same time. He also thought that he had to walk a special way--so fo ra while he would walk almost lieka duck, not bending his legs, but then he would try to OVER bend his legs. But in the end he got it right and did a beautiful job. He was utterly adorable. He has this cute everyone is looking at me smile...as he stared straight ahead. The only thing he didn't get right was where to stand--he just dtopped at the first standing male....which was the groom...it was cute, but he did eventually get to where he was supposed to be. The Best Man helped him a lot. My highlight of Micci's wedding antics--was his announcement to the congregation, "Mommy, Daddy, I need to go POTTY!" while the entire bridal party stood before the alter announcing the New Couple. Mic was a bit ansy though out but it's to expected at his age.

L. looked resplendent. Her was hair up studded with pearls and she wore he veil behind her head. Her dress was very pretty--simple (which I like) but with a beads studding aroudn the wasit and at the end bottom of the dress at the back. The bridal party wore pink, L.'s favourite color.

A friend from L. and my knitting group, Lone Star State Knitters, came as well all the way from Buda. That was fun seeing V. again--such a great lady. I feel so blessed to have met L. After my Mom and my close firned's moved, I felt very alone and L. stepped right in and became my friend and welcomed me and my family in to her life and her circle of friends. I feel blessed that I found my knittign group, it's not only where I met L., but gained a great group of friends who also understand my knitting "afflicition."

L. and her now husband wrote the loveliest thing in their wedding programme:

We would like to thank our family and good friends for sharing this day with us. You have all played a very special role in our lives. From our family to our friends, new and old each of you has touched our lives in some significant way, shaping us as individuals. As we celebrate the joining of our hearts and our souls, we would like to thank you all for your love, support and friendship over the years, and for coming together today on this very special occasion to share in the joy of our marriage. We would especially like to thank our parents for giving us life, love and opportunity and for ALWAYS supporting us wherever our dreams have taken us. Love, L. and C.

During the reception Micci led the kids playing with paper airplanes he got from our lunch at Whataburger. It was a good way for him to get all of his energy expended, but it was very hard to get him to stop. I have tons of pics of the pre wedding and the reception (of course I need to get them developed because I still can't find my camera). Lorelei hunted down all the caramel filledd candy Kisses from our table--which awesomly enough didn't seem to make her hyper...Mic I think had enough for the two of them. Lorelei danced a bit on the dance floor, but spent most of her time played with her dolls on the floor.

We left before the reception was over but after all the required bits and such--Mic was exhausted and got his finger stepped on--so he was very grouchy. When we got home I felt like I had just moved a mountain or two. Child wrangling is exhausting.

Phil and Ashley are coming this weekend--so it's cleaning time--maybe I'll find my camera.
