And another reason why I am homeschooling. Sure I can pack a bag lunch--but my children would still be influenced by the unappetising atmosphere around him. And a half an hour for a meal...no wonder we are all fat. We eat huge amounts of food in a very short time; which we are also taught at school.

I remember a typical meal in middle school and high school. Because the lunch lines were too long (no one had time to eat by the time they got out of the line), I would get lunch at the ice cream cart. I would purchase a chocolate ice cream eclair and chocolate milk. And that's what I would eat every day for lunch. Maybe on friday's I would get into the lunch line for pizza...cause for some reason school pizza was really good. And I am sure I don't want to know why. Another reason for avoiding the lunch line was expense. I only grabbed a dollar a day for lunch. School lunch was almost twice that.

In High School, I purchase for a dollar mind you, by now it was a forte of mine (eating with under a dollar), a cup of fries and lemonade. Ah I miss those fries and lemonade...they were so good, and I am sure very bad for me. By my junior year I graduated to a sack of milk (yes in my school milk came in bags) and a baked potato...which was only marginally better for me.
