He's alive! I've been checking Salam's site many times this weekend and I was getting really worried. Reading his blog while the U.S. is invading his country is very surreal and brings the war even closer to home. (i wish I had known about his blog months ago) I am torn. Although I believe in the war and support Bush's determination to remove Saddam, I hate that we are bombing Bagdad and other cities where civilians live and work and play. I hate seeing the fires and smoke and explosions on TV.

I hate when the thought comes to my mind that this is what war is and civilians will die and suffer. I hate that we live in a world where war is needful. But like a bloke said on the radio last night...we wouldn't need to have war if people like Saddam and Kim Jong II weren't in power. But because those people are in power and willing to use their "power" to destroy and humilate war is going to be part of this existence. I would love to live in a world without war, but until those evil men are removed from power, our world will never be at peace and we can't expect peace until they are.

So to Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, and others of their ilk, don't disrespect our soldiers working and dying for our freedoms by opening your traps without understanding how the real world works. Peace may come but not until our world is made safe from tryants and provides no succor to those who wish to become tyrants.
