Tim Robbins has some very valid points. And he's right we are in a precipace--we have been since long before 9-11. We have been since we failed to listen to Martin Luther King's words. "We have fallen asleep in the comfort of our freedom." This has been my own rallying cry for almost a decade. I saw 9-11 coming. I knew that if America didn't wake up something bad would happen to us to wake us up. Even now after 9-11 I think we are only groggily awake. We are reacting...(not acting or thinking) in ways that scare me. And we have have fallen into that old trap. We are blaming others for everything that is happening around us. It's the government's fault, it's Hollywood's fault, it's Osama's fault, it's Saddam's fault. I am not saying Osama is without fault for 9-11...he is...without him we would still have the World Trade Center and three thousand men and women--but we can't ignore the role our country played in the creating of the hatred against us.

Tim Robbins is expounding that normal people are afraid to speak out against the war and his children are being harrassed. He is mourning his first amendment rights. But all of the so called violations and harrasment is coming from people....neighbors, teachers, friends, businesses. The first amendment does not guarantee a business or an individual to insure your freedom of speech. It only guarantees the government won't infringe directly. Clear Channel does what it does because it has a bottom line and its bottom line is influenced not by Bush but by the people, who are in a majority right now, supporting the war with fevor. Look at the Dixie Chicks...the ordinary man has spoken...not George Bush.

Freedom of speech is not a war cry, but a mentality. You must have courage is speak your mind. Courage against all opposition. If you have the freedom to speak your mind so does the guy standing right next to you. He can tell you to "shut up and sit down" or he can say "speak brother and march to the white house." Just because some one tells you to shut up does not mean there are infriging upon your rights; they are merely exercising their freedom of speech.

If you are too afraid to speak your mind...then you have lost your first amendment rights all by your self; no one took them from you.
