Barbie and Ken break up!?!

So plastic love doesn't last forever. Anyone else in this world think this is an utterly ridiculous marketing ploy? Not to mention intrusive?

Sure it was Mattel that introduced us little to the idea that Ken was Barbie perfect mate but when Ken came out there were no other alternatives, just this plastic haired "guy". But it was the little girls, that went with the idea and played with it, creating all sorts of fantasies. My Barbies married Ken, they killed Ken, they divorced Ken, married G.I Joe, and found love within themselves and didn't need a man to complete them. (See I had lot's of Barbies and only one Ken...the occasional friend brought in the Joe.) It somehow seems disturbing that Mattel would impose this breaking news onto a little girl's imaginative play. I am sure it's a ploy to introduce another new sort of "Ken" or whatever. It's just dumb that's all.
