Apology Hall of Fame?

I don't watch news much--due to the fact that I have kids that love cartoons and my apathy toward main stream media. SO I wasn't able to answer to the mess that Imus created. When I did hear it last night on the Sports news,a recap also airing his pathetic apology--I turned to Jamey, "He did NOT say that!"/p>

Being a woman I am of course deeply offended and as a fan of the WNBA I am hurt. So athletic woman can only be described as "Hoes"?* Was he tryingto be cute? Why would it be cute? He apologises by saying "I am a good man." Huh? If my son ever called any woman a Ho or a Bitch or any of the wonderful derogatory words that they have for women. he'd get slapped across the face--even when he is six foot five 200 pounds.

It's disturbing, but it's also a fact of life for women. As long as Africans have been maginalised, women have been kicked to the side for much much longer. It's not funny that there are more derogatory words for a woman then there are for a man. Even the words meant to be respective have become slanders and slurs. Madam? Missus? Lady? Those aren't words of respect that they once were.

I think Imus should be fired and never work in TV or radio again...black list him. 2 weeks suspension is laughable. I don't want any more Apology Hall of fames...people in the public eye OUGHT to know better---thinking before you speaking is certainly a lost art.

* I am not going to speak about the horrendous racial slur. Since I am not a person of colour I can not speak from any sort of soap box. Just to say that adding the adjective Imus did was equally insulting and despicable.
