Domino Effect

I've been knitting like a mad person this week. Word came that my friend's best friend was due for her baby on the 21st (it was a surprise to us all, believe me) and the shower was this weekend. So I started knitting a hat and a pair of booties. I am a very slow knitter so it took me about 4 days to knit everything up (a new born hat and booties are exceptionally small). They were so small they fit Lorelei's dolly and she was very upset that I gave them away. So I am making another set for her dolly. Mic also has an order for a pink set for his dolly. And I'm sure all of Lorelei's other dollies will need to be outfitted as well.

Thursday came and I was just turning the heel on the second set, when L. called. M. is in the hospital dilated 5 centimeters! A.S. was born at 7.22 pm right around the time when I finally finished his bootie. L. and her husband took me to see in the new baby last night...oh he was so precious. I got several deep whiffs of his gorgeous new baby smell and my uterus did flip flop a few times...hmm. New babies are fantastic...old babies are great too...at least until they get to be 2 and then it's not so cute. More like bit of cuteness in the midst of sass and mess. It's the small bit of cuteness that gets parents through that sea of sass and mess.
