Every so often I wonder what the world would be like if John Lennon wasn't murdered. What would music be like today? He had such plans for the future. One of my friends, a Beatle maniac, thinks he would have dried up...like Elvis or Paul McCartney. But I don't believe that. John was different. John had a few month before rediscovered his direction. He was one of those lights that never dims...their shine never tarnishes. But grows and changes and transforms.

On VH1 right now, Behind the Music: John Lennon the Later Years is airing. It's not that it makes me sad exactly. Perhaps regretful--forlorn....alone.

But it does give me ideas.
