So this U2 tour and the excitement around it has me thinking--what's the big deal. How many of you out there would start screaming if you glanced at Bono. Are we as frenzied as Backstreet Boy fans? Do we think we'll be cool as cucumbers---but in the face of the midget would we lose it? And what's the point in that? What makes us do that to famous people? It's not like they are gods--perfect and immortal. They eat, sleep, and shit just like you and me. They feel insecure (probably more so than the res tof us--that's why they are popstars...), they get grumpy, they are not any different and they certainly aren't better than us.

But still--we shove their lives under a microscope, leave them no privacy and no room to suffer the mistakes like the rest of humanity. We judge them unfairly and critise their every move. Yet, to become famous is a spectacular achievement...we all want some piece of fame outselves...are we in awe of that accomplishment?

Behold the modren god! The popstar.

What will historians think of us in 200 years?
