Senate votes to ban partial birth abortions. I may come under fire for this. But I wholly support this bill. Partial Birth abortions are inhumane and discusting. Rarely are they needed to preserve the life or health of a mother. You've got 2 or 3 months to decide to carry your child to term...after that you have a responsiblity to carry it to term and to either love that child as your own or love that child enough to give it to someone you can care for it if you can not.

The summary of the bill provides the gist of the bill. I recommend you read it. They did include a bit in the bill that gives the married father of the child to be aborted to have some say in the abortion. Which I support. Marriage is a partnership--and both would be affected by the death of that child.

The actual legislative wording of the bill. It's very interesting reading. It includes their findings, opinions, and why and who they are writing this bill. It gives an insight to the workings of our law makers. Suprisingly its fairly readable....with skimming the actual case titles. But read it...it provides some very interesting points.

A discussion is very welcome...after of course you read the bill in full and respond without emotional trappings. Finally, I am pro-choice. I do believe women have the right and the need to decide to have a baby, but you have a window. If you don't make up your mind by 20 weeks...then guess what: you have made your choice--to have the baby. To me partial birth abortions (PBAs) are the same as deciding not to have the baby when it's born and you throw it in the trash. Perhaps PBAs aren't done often, but once when the woman's life is not in danger is once too many.
