The Pregnant Women is a non entity

Shocking? Apparently in some places in the United States she has no rights and is unable to make her own decisions.

In Washington State, a judge, as well as an appeals panel, ruled that a certain woman who was pregnant (not by her husband) can not legally divorce her husband--even though said husband is in jail for domestic abuse. Never mind the leading cause of death in pregnant women is MURDER by their spouse or boyfriend, but the fact that because she is pregnant she all of a sudden doesn't have the same rights as everyone ELSE!

We all know the cases of doctors and hospitals getting court orders to do all sorts of things in the name of the unborn baby AGAINST the will of the mother and parent. Because parent's are childrens worst enemy don't ya know...we know nothing and can't be trusted with the care of our own children. But to actually be treated like a second hand citzen is beyond me.

I also know that in 37 states (more than half the the states in the union) a pregnant woman has no (or a very limited) right to make a living will or to confer medical power of attorney, regardless of whether she's married or not (like that matters).

Baby trumps all.

Yes, I love my children and I would do everything to protect them. BUT it should be MY decision. Trust ME to know what is best for them.

All the pro-lifers out there skate on dangerous ice. Yes protect the lives of children, but trust those competent, their parents, to make the right choice for THEIR children. It's my choice...it's my body and it's my child's life and well being of my child. It is my responsibilty and I will take the conseqences to my maker. It begins the tear that rips apart all of my individual rights.

This takes me to the heart of why I am pro-choice. Not because I would choose to abort (I was faced with that choice when I became pregnant with my first child--and I could not choose abortion) But it is MY right over MY body which comes first. And until that baby is born out of me, that baby is still my body...and lives because I live and want it to live.

As I got waaay off tangent--just because a woman becomes pregnant it does not mean her brain turn to mush and her soul flies out of her body.

Ten Things I've Said Before Today:

Well it's about time...
Trying to Juggle the Mad Monkeys
Slightly annoyed
Yesterday was shite
Back from Vacation and what I learned
And the twain shall meet
Adjustment
Mad--just plain MAD
Oatmeal: the feel good food
We forgot AGAIN
