D R A M A

So I learned yesterday that I handle different forms of stress, well differently. Emergency stress, i.e. things I have planned for, I expect to handle well, because I know right now what I would do and Non-Emergency stress, i.e. things I have not foreseen, like plumbing problems I go all to pieces.

Yesterday was one of those non-emergency stresses and boyo I did NOT handle it well. The day had already begun badly, I was in a foul mood and everything was setting my temper off. BUT, I was working through it and was progressing nicely in the day getting the house ship shape and THEN Mic has to go potty and wants help. And I see that the bathroom is flooding...there's water everywhere even going into the carpet of our bedroom. And it's all coming from underneath the toilet and Mic needs to go potty!!! Well I have to let Mic go potty and I discover it's all warm water on the floor....so not toilet water. I go to the garage to get the shop wet/dry vac and I discover the source...at the same moment of the flooding my washer machine is in its final drain cycle. Great!

So I call my mom, while I am trying to get thing cleaned up, and all I tell her is to get over here NOW! I could barely speak I was under SO MUCH stress. Poor mom thought something truly terrible had happened. Little does she know if it was truly emergent I'd probably be completely composed. In my weird need to plan things, I know what I'll do if the kids have an accident or something. I know what I'll do if my kids go missing (I always make a mental note of what they are wearing for example). I know what I 'll do in a fire or natural disasters.

But this...oh man...I was losing it. I needed my mom to help reassure me, help with Micci (cause he wanted to help)! And to take me away...so I could escape the resulting chaos.

Lesson: Start planning and obsessing what I'll do for stupid plumbing emergencies. Of course, maybe stuff would have gone better if I wasn't already going to pieces BEFORE I found my flooded out bathroom.

And at conclusion: Water is gone, carpet slightly damp and the hard water, lint and gawd knows what has been cleaned out of the pipes and we are getting a strainer for that washer hose!!
