Back from WHIBSIB

Well I am finally posting about my fun at my knitting retreat (heretofore known as WHIBSIB). I learned that it's pronounced wib'sib. I learned that little alpacas are really cute.

Even though the B in WHISIB stands for Buda (a small town between San Marcos and Austin), we were actually in Wimberly. The owner of our yahoo group lives in Buda (pronounced bU'da not boo'da and we have a once a year retreat, away from husbands, children, and pets, to kit, eat, and gab. It was heavenly. We stayed in an awesome Irish themed "cabin." Although we stayed up late and got up early we all and a great time. We visited the local Alpaca Ranch and yarn shop. I took home some Alpaca yarn and one of the gals in the cabin gave me some wool roving (I need to learn to spin now). I bought some beads for my bracelets. And a got an awesome deal on a vintage lace dress.

I taught a class on knitting with beads--I hope I actually helped some--I felt pretty inadequate. I saw some pretty awesome finished knitted items...shawls, and bags and such. One of the gals gave me the Clapotis bug. I MUST get the same yarn she did (because it's cheap and hers looks fantastic!). Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet all 30 gals that came, BUT I did get to meet several handfuls of great women. I miss the cabin already.

L. is having a girls night out on Friday and I am already needing it. I look forward to the time when I can look back on these toddler years with fondness and warm fuzzy feelings.
