Grown Up, Where?

When did I realise I was an adult?

Crap, I am STILL realising I am an adult. Sometimes I have to pinch myself, "Dude you are a total grown up now!" I honestly still think of my self as a ten year old with knobby knees and oversized glasses. It always floors me when I look around: I've got a husband, a mortgage, 2 kids, debt, boobs AND pubes. It weirds me out. I spent the entire year I turned 30, going "Shit, I am 30. Three zero. Fuuuuuuck." Being 31...it finally sunk in. I am 30.

But in the same vein, I feel older than dirt. That's me eternal 10 year old, Petra Pan.

My baby turns 18 this year. I still feel about nineteen inside. I don't get it.

Right? What happens when your kids pass your internal age? What then?

I am living in blissful ignorance. My son is about to turn 7--the very thought of him turning ten gives me the hebbie jebbies. I am focusing on ten because twenty? I can not even conceive of my son being 20.

I just realised my daughter is older than you are when I 'met' you! lol- last night R and I went to see David Byrne from Talking Heads do a show. As we waited to go in, I looked around and said, "This crowd is so middle-aged." Later, I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. {sigh} I didn't look out of place amongst all those middle aged women.

Today! I felt my age. I am currently in the grips of a massive David Tennant crush. I looked up the the birthdate of his girlfriend: December 25, 1984! I literally yelled, "She's just a CHILD!" She's my brother's age! Then I realised, wait no that's just 6 years younger than me and well gee David is 6 years older than me. Sooo...well it's still wrong because he ought to be dating me! But that's a whole nother conversation!

Where was I? Oh yes, so I felt old. People being born in 80s ad they are adults?! It's just bizarre.
