Hiding from Easter Chores

We're having Kim and my mom over for Easter dinner...and I am procrastinating. I need to straighten up, clean the kitchen, and finish making Lorelei's easter present. Thankfully, I have been keeping up with the house so it's not a major undertaking, but still...can't have my mom bitching about clutter. Argh.

Lorelei turned 6 months this week. I can't believe she's that big. Soon she'll be crawling and getting into real trouble. I keep finding her 180 degrees from where I put her to bed and most times on the opposite end of the bed. She really moves in her sleep. Poor thing is STILL battling a yeast based diaper rash...stupid thing has been on her since she came home from the hospital! And no amount of nystatin seems to work...we're trying a powdered form this time.

Oh and my peditriation is an idiot when it comes to basic care of an healthy infant. She wants me to feed Lore solids 3 times a day....yeah if I do that I'll wean her from breast milk in 2 months! Idiot. Food is an exploration at this age not a routine or nutrition. Even iron or vitamin D supplementation is not necessary. I could vent and really go on about it but I won't. People need to trust that human body was meant to do certain things and in MOST cases it will do it just fine. Sure there are some that can't breastfeed...a rare minority...or can't give birth vaginally AT ALL. But it's not as common as people think. Honestly, if vaginal birth was too hard, we would be extinct!! I was reading a book the other day about the history of birth. Doctors began delievering babies in the 1400s...mostly of the rich that could afford it and of course THEY (the rich) write history. Of course it was dangerous...those doctors we're idiot men that never washed their hands and liked to invent man handle women. If you think about it not much hisotry was written prior to 1400, and most of it was done by men. Women, who were traditonal midwives, never really got the chance to give their voice.

Okay so I did rant a bit...but I needed to blow off steam.
