Words are just not enough

I've been watching the devastating events of Katrina from my living room with silent tears running down my cheeks. I can not even begin to wrap my head around this tragedy. I don't think any one can--even the ones that are in the midst of it--all they know is their world is gone. Times that by a million and you might get close to the depth and breadth of this horrifying disaster.

I've stopped watching the news no stop...because the blame game has begun. THAT makes me sick...stop blaming, stop with the what ifs and the shouldas...DO EVERYTHING you can NOW to help. What gets me is the total chaos. No one really knows what to do...this disaster has bowled every one over. The whole country is in shock. Although, I like what the Mormon Church has done. Their organisation is amazing. They had food already there BEFORE it hit. They knew this area is prone to hurricanes...so they already had warehouses full of food. It's just not hit the news yet. They even sent more food when the Hurricane warnings were issued. The local church leaders mobilized and are providing help to their congregations and others. I really think the government should take some disaster preparedness lessons from the Mormons...no matter what you think of their beliefs....they sure know how to prepare for the worst.

This is the first time I have been able to be lucid enough to talk about Katrina on this blog...before...words could not express what was racing through my heart. It's just too much.

You're right no one can just wave a magic wand and fix what happened. It's not something easy to just go in and get it all straightened up. It's going to take patience and perserverence to ever see this area remotely restored to normalcy.
