What's the Point?

For the past 9 years I have been "blogging"--way before it was called blogging. I used to FTP to a free geocities site before I could afford to buy my own domain. I did it because deep down I loved the idea of meeting people hundreds and thousands of miles away from me. And through these years I have clung to that. But--I have made no friends, not even acquaintances through my blogs. I have one friend down in Australia that still comes to my site (although emails are now rare--life's busy), but I met her through a U2 mailing list--YEARS ago in Austin II. Mostly it seems this blog helps me communicate to family and friends. I know I get other visitors but I never get comments from them so how knows if they care or if they come back.

But I don't have to spend hundreds of dollars a year to blog for my family--heck I can email them--not to mention thousands of man hours that I could spend cleaning my house or knitting or spending time with my kids.

So WHY in God's name am I still doing this--does it matter?? What I do every day matter to any one out there in the void of the Internet. At this point I am very close to just shutting down all these blogs and clearing my favourite lists of blogs.

I am tired of caring for people that don't care about me.
