Ashes Ashes We All Fall Down

My Fear: My House Burned Down.

As long as I can remember, 50% of the time as I am returning home, be it from school, work or vacation, I expect my home to be mouldering, burnt out soaking wet, smoking ruins.

I expect this comes from when I was 4. A second story apartment in my building caught fire in the middle of the night and we all evacuated. Our apartment was spared, but the one that caught fire was destroyed. A small, young family lived there and they had to throw the baby out the window into a sandbox.

I can still remember what burned house smells like. It's very distinctive and very terrifying.

Conversely, I have no fear of my home burning.
