Bizarre Gifts: Welcome to the Family!

One Christmas, my husband's Aunt Betty gave me a small jewelry gift box. Ya know the type: a black, velvety outside, satiny interior, with a spring hinge. It was wedged really tight in a silver and gold paper box. We spent several hours working the black box out of it's prison, so we could open it.

It was empty.

We never were sure what was supposed to be in that small black box and it was a very good introduction to the ways of dear old Aunt Betty.
