In Hiding
It's been nearly a week since I blogged and I only thought that I should blog something perhaps once or twice. I shrunk back into myself, which I do during times of great stress. And doing so did not knit or blog, but merely escaped into an activity I haven't done in ages: devouring Anne Rice's vampire stories...I found new ones I hadn't read and have done nothing but read. I finished 5 books since Monday.
Speaking of Monday, the trip to the court house was long but uneventful--having first to surrender Bert--taking pictures is an apparent no-no. I got the two $158 tickets dismissed and paid $20 in court fees. Afterwards, we met up with T&R and went to half price books--got books for the kids and I found a treasure!!! The Gossamer Webs Design Collection: Three Orenburg Shawls to Knit--now I can learn the construction and make my own...I am so happy--course now I need some good lace weight yarn. Anyway, I nearly died when I found it tucked away in amongst the knitting books...5 bucks and it was mine!
This book is next on my list to get...I doubt I'll be lucky again and find it at a used bookstore...I might end up buying it from Amazon. But I am also on the look out for my own copies of Barbara Walkers Treasury of Knitty Patterns.
More happy news, I had the plumbers come out this week to inspect our troublesome pipes and found that indeed we did have a defect and roots to boot. Bad news?? Nah, it was in the 10 feet of easemet that the city owns and the very next morning they came out and replaced the pipe. OUR PIPES ARE CLEAN!! With little cost to no to us....now we get to ponder when to get a valve to lessen our high water pressure. It was suggested that I embroider a sign for each of our bathrooms that instructs the bathroom guest as to the proper use of a toilet. I might just do that!
The other night I made French Onion soup--it was ambrosia. I can't wait to make it for Jesse. It's her favourite soup. Just a month and a half and I see her again. I had two bowls of it...oh it was so good...I don't have pics...but I'll make it again and so you shall have it. We had a bit of Emmanetauler left after making the toasted cheesy bread to add to the soup and I ate it all before I had the chance to put it in the fridge.
Off to clean the house--I have become suffiectly disgusted with myself letting it wallow in neglect.
