My daughter is going to hate me

While introducing Lorelei to the world, I've had to spell her name over and over and over. Even my mom has(d) no clue how to spell it...oh and Alyse is is spelled just like I typed it. I had no idea how to spell it--so I came up with A-L-Y-S-E. And it confuses so many people.

My brother, Craig, refuses to call her Lorelei,...hates the name (why? Shrug...it's a gorgeous sounding name)...so he's calling her Lily. Already I call her Lori or Leelee...depending on my mood...mostly though it is Lorelei.

For all you that are looking at her name and are scratching their heads...how in the hell does she pronounce that? Either follow this pronounciation guide or tune in to Gilmore Girls on the WB...it's the Gilmore girls first names (course I spell it different...just to be difficult). Okay...it's "Lore" as in a traidtion or belief that is taught or studied and "Lie" as in to tell a falsehood...but of course it's spelled "ei" instead of "ie". Also acceptable is "Lore"-"Ah"-"Lie".

Yep, she's going to hate me.

Let's not even get into the fact that she has two middle names...one of which is my maiden name that I can't seem to let go of.

As an addendum "Alyse" is pronounced "A(short a)"-"Lee"-"Ese." Evans has a short "E" sound for that "a" and Coffman's "a" is also a short "e" sound. Just for the record.
