Busy busy
Well, we have been busy. On Thursday after J's interview (applying for a new job within his company), we all went to A Day Out With Thomas. Mic had loads of fun. He got to ride Thomas the trian and meet the Conductor. He played games and watched videos...he had a blast. Being in Austin was nice. We went to Freebirds World's Burritos, because not only is the food awesome, but J's didn't think taking the kids to the Dog and Duck Pub (my all time favourite place to eat in Austin) after dark was a good idea. Poot.
The next day I went to work and cleaned house. Not that you can tell now, but oh well. Saturday, I went to the dentist and had the first phase of my dental work done. Not so fun. Swollen and bleeding we then went to B&N so Mic could play with Thomas. Then off to HEB to particplate in J's store's "We made a million dollars in Sales Party"....lot's of food. Larry's boss cooked up hundreds of good steaks...which I couln't have since I was on a soft diet...but they had HUGE baked potatoes...so I didn't starve.
Sunday (yesterday), the boys took the big kids to the Saints game at the Alamo Dome and I took the girls out to the Shops at La Cantera. We had a blast looking at stuff we could never buy at Neiman Marcus, one of the girls actually thought it was a discount/outlet store on our way to the shops...ummm no. I got my self a teddy bear at Build-a-Bear...she's so cute. I named her Elizabeth Bear...she has red velvet flowers on her ears, with a red top and jean over-all dress, with red undies (I like red remember). The kids love her. And because I went all out she cost 50 bucks (I also bought a spurs shirt for her and matching socks and shoes), the kids are only have brief supervised visits. When Mic's birthday comes, I am going to takehim to build a bear to make his very own special friend. That was such a blast. I also bought the girls, Godiva truffles, because that is a tradition.
And P, I will tkae you one of these days and have some rela fun. Those girls are way to godly and worldly (if that makes any sense). One girl had her baby (9 months old) at 17 and thinks she is an expert because she went to a special school for girls that got knocked up. And the include lot's of pregnancy info and child rearing info in the curriculum. More like pregnancy and child rearing misinformation. I wanted to scream by the end of it. Sure yes she is a teenager with the I know it all attitude, but you know it's the same attitude most other people have about it to. Doctor's are gods who can do no wrong and my breasts are for my husband. My head almost exploded. But I was good and didn't rant at her. So it's all saved for you!
I don't know if it's a religious thing or what, because R (the other gal that went with us) believed that too...I think she regrets not breastfeeding now. I am sorry if breasts were meant for our husbands or boy toys then they would not produce milk when you had a baby!!!! Argh. They are for your baby they are for your baby your husband is only leasing them...and sorry but your body belongs to YOU not to your effing husband!!! And hubby can have them when you're not feeding the baby...he can share can't he!! J seems to have no problem! Down deep I am a breastfeeding nazi, to me it's not a choice...it's something you just do for the welfare of your child...like putting a coat on your child when it's cold out. And problems can be worked through and managed...and in the RARE RARE cases were it truly isn't an option then formula. But in polite mixed company fine formula feed your baby and I won't mutter how selfish you are being...too loudly.
Okay I just had to get that off my chest.
Today, I am cleaning out my closet. I am donating clothes to charity and it's time for my fall toss out. I am finally throwing away clothes that I tried to hang on to from my childhood, even though they are either ugly or have never ever fit. I always wore clothes that were too big, because I thought I was.
This is turning into a LONG post. I have been reading the Little House on the Praire books...again for the hundredth time. I just love those books. I was thinking how they managed before all the things housewives have today...and still did quite well. And here I am barely hanging on. I always think what would they do and say and react if they saw all the modern devices we have. And why does it still take all day to clean when we have these devices that are supposed to simplified and speed things up!
