Sibling Race

Who's going to garner the acclaim and olive leaves in the family who is the favourite?? Who is the cutest...smartest...most successful. Most kids in a family get pigeoned holed into some catergory set of expectations.

I don't notice it in my family--but correct me please if I am wrong. I am the eldest by at least 6 years and I had a different Dad (but we never saw the bioloical specimin so he doesn't factor how I relate to my step dad BUT how he might relate to me and how my sibs might relate to me). It may or may not be a factor. I only know I was the eldest and always had the lion share of responsiblity. At times I felt like a second mother. I don't think I was ever thought of as the smart one. Or any of those sort of catergories. I just had the birth order.

I am trying to figure out how I see my kids. Kim frequently asks, "Has Mic done or said anything funny?" Most often I am at a loss, but Lorelei well she did the cutest thing the other day. I am wondering if I am favoring her because she's the baby and babies are cute. Mic does cute things all the time...I don't always remember them...or they border on sassy--cute but not to be encouraged.

Or they remind me of my self--and not my most pleasant parts and I do my best to forget them. Yesterday Mic wasin a bad mood and was trying to get his sister to stop talking. He finally yelled, "You're driving me NUTS!!" Sounds waaay to familiar because I say that at least 5 times a day. He also has temper...just like me. Sometimes I want to lock myself in a room as to isolate my failings as a person from the sensitive pysches of my children.

But that passes because well that's just no feasible and I am not a monster...most of the time. And i can honestly say both my kids drive me nuts equally.

Oh and good news Mom, I am raising a heathen. Micci got tired of me telling him to do sometihing because God made that thing for that purpose and he yelled at me, "There is no God in Texas!!!" And because he was frustrated and contary, "There is no God at all." And for good measure, "There are no Gods." I do believe got Heather beat.

Yeah so more God and less Santa I think.
